Last Tuesday Lecture

The speaker at this lecture was by far my favorite, and I'm really happy he was the last speaker because it would've been a hard time for any other speaker who had to live up to him and Emmit's powerful stories. He didn't even explain some of his photos and they were still very powerful, without even knowing the meaning behind them. Also he was one of those people who just took you into his world. You could feel his presence and energy in the room the second he started to speak. I was also impressed by how humble he was. He did not want a huge introduction, and he showed other people's work and his work from when he was in graduate school, which I appreciated seeing that, because it just shows even people who are huge like him now started off just like we, as Tyler students, are. Overall though this lecture made me leave remembering why I love art so much.

Machine Project!

So this is the result of our last project in foundations computer for fall semester. It was another two weeker project which I enjoy better because I am allowed more time to figure out what I want the final result to be. Also it allows me more time to figure out all the little problems working with a computer can cause. Any who my machine is kind of a gossip eating machine...I haven't really been able to figure out a more interesting name for it yet... This machine is simple, but I think what it does is quite important. It's taking all of the harsh cruel things in magazines that have been said about celebrities, or anyone and chopping up those words in a fan and then they are being sucked into a box to never be let out again...here's a pic of it!

Clothespin

The Olenburg clothespin is one of my favorite pieces of public art work. I was out and about in philly today and it really caught my eye. In 3d a couple of weeks ago we were talking about how the scale of things really impact people and how they take certain things in. The clothespin does a good job of this. It really does take a more powerful meaning then a regular clothespin does. Here's a picture of it...!

Second To Last Tuesday Lecture!

Well today's lecture...I'm not sure what to say about it...but I know there's a lot I do want to say. The gentleman speaking today was for sure excited about his work and other people's work. Which by him being excited to be at Tyler and to be able to speak to us made me become more interested and excited. It's just refreshing to see someone that into art. People like that remind me of why I'm actually at Tyler and how much an artist can get out of his/her work with the end result. Even though he took a while to get to showing his work...the wait was well worth it. His work that he showed was all hand painted and it was for sure impressive. He had a lot of interesting designs happening in each one of his pieces and I can only imagine how much patience and time it must have taken him. Finally his work seemed to remind me more of something a women would do...not that it's a bad thing that his work does that...it was actually just very surprising. Overall I enjoyed the second to last Tuesday lecture =)

Tuesday Lecture

Todays lecture was pretty good. The speaker was a good public speaker, even though you could tell he was nervous.. But he even stated he was nervous but by him saying he was nervous made it even better for himself, because I could understand then why he would pause at some spots and why he would stumble a little bit. Anyways his artwork was very very refreshing. I loved seeing someone like that because it just makes me realize that as long as you want something it will happen. This guy had no intention of making art or even becoming an artist when he moved here to philidelphia. He just started to make art and do what he loves and it just happend. He intentionaly just wanted to hang out with friends and skateboard when moving here. He artwork was also very graphic and I liked how he wasn't afraid to show works of art form when he first got started. It really helped him relate with us, because we are all just getting started just like he did way back when. He was also very friendly, and more our age so that helped as well with us being able to relate with him. The band at the end of the lecture was a great add, but I couldn't stay for it because I have class at 1215, which I was very dissappointed about! Anyways it was a very good lecture and I was very interested during the whole time he was speaking.

This is our latest project. It was done in photoshop again, which I enjoyed doing. We had to take an image that was known and then work in pictures to make it look like those pictures were supposed to be there. I choose to do Munch's Scream piece.  It was a more difficult assignment then the one we did previously, but I did learn a lot from it, and I'm really enjoying using photoshop so that makes it all the better =)

Another Project!

I liked this project the most in my computer class so far. Instead of working in adobe illustrator we worked in photoshop and that made it a whole lot better. It was a lot less restricted and I was able to add a lot of my own feelings into it. We did two drawings of two journals out of the five we did over the last week. Anyways this is the result of the project... =)
