The Shapes Project

After reading the information provided about the shapes project by Allan McCollum I was pretty much amazed. I can't begin to imagine how amazing all of the shapes together would look like. Even though I am amazed now by it I wasn't so sure of it before reading about it. In all honesty I thought it was kind of a boring concept...to make shapes for everyone?...I really didn't understand how he went about doing this or why...what was the point of it?...but it is all pretty clear to me now. The process of putting together all the parts is quite clever. I also like how he made sure to be able to have it be continued after he is passed away. I also like how he has some of them set aside not just for the soul purpose of it being a shape, but to be used in many different ways. Overall I'm impressed by his project he has going and I'll be sure to keep track of it now that I know of it.

Lecture From Tuesday

I really liked the lecture on this past Tuesday. I wasn't sure what to think at first when I saw a guy dressed up in a bear outfit jumping around in the front of the hall, but I soon became interested in what they had to say. I really liked how they were students that graduated from the same art school that I am attending. I kind of reassured and encouraged my classmates and I that we all could be them someday, coming back to lecture a group of freshman. It was really impressive to see the art space that they have created over the years, and especially because they were still so young and such newly graduated students. I would kill to have a place like that to work in. I'm kind of upset I never went to the advent they were holding on Saturday night, so hopefully I will be able to get to the next one. Overall I was impressed an very intrigued at what they have going on for themselves.
